challenge one

Inspired by the work and efforts of Karin Jurick, I've decided to try my hand at creating and participating in group painting challenges.

I found Karin's website, Different Strokes from Different Folks late last year. By the time I got the nerve up to participate in one, Karin was forced to set aside her time spent with the challenges as she became quite busy preparing for her show of work, teaching and I'm assuming her every day life as well.

I have no delusions to which I am in any way equal to Karin's talent nor do I believe I am able to give instructions, advice or tutorials to anyone picking up a brush. I am beginning this journey as an experiment for myself and anyone else out there who wishes to view other people's work alongside their own.

If you've found this website, please don't think this is a place where you'll be judged. I am mostly a self taught painter who just enjoys seeing what I can come up with. I love seeing other's interpretations just as much if not more.

Specifics for each challenge are listed on the sidebar.

The deadline for this first challenge is February 22, 2010.
